Save 23¢ on a Gallon of Gas
Some of us take pride in finding a gas station that’s a penny or two cheaper than the one down the street. Here’s a way to save a lot more.
A car’s speed has a big effect on the gas it uses. The faster you go on the highway, the lower your miles-per-gallon. How much?
At $3.25 a gallon, each 5 MPH over 50MPH is like paying an extra 23¢ per gallon. This chart shows how MPG goes down as speed goes up.
Each 5 MPH costs 23¢ a gallon.
So driving 70MPH is like paying 70¢ a gallon more, compared with going 55MPH.
Other benefits: less pollution, safer, no stress about getting a speeding ticket.
Green and green.
